Tungaloy updates its milling inserts

Tungaloy has broadened its DoRec square shoulder milling offerings with the addition of 17 LQMU1107 inserts. These inserts come equipped with the -ML chipbreaker, previously exclusive to the LQMU1808 series. Furthermore, the LQMU1107 series has been enhanced with Tungaloy’s most advanced PVD and CVD material grades.

Incorporating double-sided inserts with four indexing options, DoRec provides extreme reliability in every square shoulder milling operation. Its strong cutting edge boasts high edge security, which is made possible by its unique obtuse-angle cutting edge geometry. This maximizes process security and productivity over a wide range of material groups. The inserts are offered in two standard sizes: LQMU1107 is designed for up to 9.0 mm cutting depth while LQMU1808 for 16 mm cutting depth.

Featuring a sharp cutting edge and relatively open geometry, the -ML chipbreaker prevents the temperatures from building up at the cutting point during machining. This characteristic makes it ideal for efficient machining of stainless steel and exotic metals. The chipbreaker also eliminates chatter prone during machining with an aggressive cutting depth, ensuring stability and productivity.

In addition, four of the latest and the most competitive PVD and CVD insert grades have been added, upgrading the LQMU1107 insert line: AH3225 is the first choice for steel, AH3135 provides excellent fracture resistance, AH8015 is suited for heat-resistant super alloys and cast iron, and T1215 CVD grade offers additional wear resistance.

The expansion is made in two separate launches: seven new LQMU110708PXER inserts, the inserts with a 0.8 mm nose radius, are launched in May 2024, followed by three new LQMU1107..PXER-ML inserts and seven new LQMU1107..PXER-MJ inserts, which will be introduced in August 2024.
