Walter Launches TC620 Supreme: A World-First in Thread Milling

Walter TC620 Supreme Thread milling cutters combine a multi-row design with a 90° countersink chamfer.

Walter has introduced a world-first innovation with the launch of its multi-row thread milling cutter TC620 Supreme, featuring a 90° countersink chamfer and the advanced Walter DeVibe anti-vibration geometry. This is the first time the advantages of multi-row thread milling cutters have been combined with an integrated countersinking function.

Compared to conventional thread milling solutions, the TC620 Supreme offers users several distinct benefits: parallel machining of multiple thread sections, higher process reliability thanks to reduced displacement forces, and simplified handling with fewer radius corrections. Additionally, the tool enables significant time savings by performing both countersinking and thread creation in a single operation using the same cutter.

By eliminating the need for a separate countersinking tool, users also reduce tool changeover time, minimize storage requirements, and free up valuable space in the tool magazine.

Like the thread milling cutter without countersink chamfer, the TC620 Supreme with 90° countersunk chamfer also features Walter’s patented DeVibe anti-vibration geometry. This significantly increases the tool’s operational smoothness, prevents so-called “chatter marks” and improves thread quality. The multi-row design reduces cutting forces and guarantees high dimensional accuracy of the tool. The internal coolant supply optimizes chip removal at high feed per tooth. The bottom line is that this ensures reliable machining even under extreme conditions. Walter offers the combination tool up to 2 × Din all common diameters (M3-M20) and thread profiles (such as Metric, Metric Fine, UNC/UNF, etc.). Users can thus benefit from high process reliability and low costs per thread in a wide range of applications – with high tool life quantities and up to 50 % shorter machining times.
