Dixon Technologies India Ltd has entered into a joint venture agreement with Taiwan-based Gemtek Technology Co to manufacture optical transceivers and other telecom products in India.
The joint venture will operate through Dixon Electroconnect Pvt Ltd, currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Dixon Technologies. Following completion of the transaction, Dixon will hold a 60% stake in the JV, while Gemtek will own the remaining 40%. Neither company will acquire a direct equity stake in the other.
The JV will manufacture and supply Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers, Bidirectional Optical Subassemblies (BOSA) and other telecom products in India.
According to the company, the partnership will combine Dixon’s large-scale manufacturing capabilities with Gemtek’s expertise in high-speed optical modules, telecom infrastructure and networking technologies. The venture will target growing demand from data centres, telecom networks, AI, cloud and edge computing, hyperscale data centres and next-generation optical communication.
The JV will have a five-member board, with Dixon entitled to nominate three directors, including the Chairman, and Gemtek to nominate two directors. The transaction is expected to be completed by February 3, 2027.
