The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a job-ready talent pool for India’s growing electronics and emerging technology sectors.
The partnership will focus on training and certification in areas including semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), drones, embedded systems, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity and electric vehicle electronics.
ESSCI will help align training with industry requirements by contributing industry-relevant Standards and Qualifications and supporting alignment with the National Skills Qualification Framework and Skill India requirements.
Semiconductor and emerging technology training will be a key focus of the collaboration. NIELIT’s virtual laboratories will support fresher training and upskilling in areas such as semiconductors, AI, IoT and drone technology. The organisations also plan to develop advanced laboratories, Centres of Excellence and industry-focused training facilities.
Madhvendra Singh, CEO, ESSCI, said the partnership would help strengthen the pipeline of skilled professionals for India’s electronics and semiconductor ambitions while providing learners with relevant skills and industry exposure.
The MoU will also support apprenticeships, internships, industrial visits, placements and other industry engagement opportunities. ESSCI will use its industry network to encourage companies and other stakeholders to participate in collaborative skill development initiatives.
The two organisations will jointly develop courses, certifications and competency frameworks, along with Training of Trainers, Training of Assessors, faculty development programmes, workshops and awareness initiatives.
The partnership will also cover joint research, workforce studies and knowledge sharing to identify emerging skill requirements and strengthen collaboration between industry and academia.
