KYOCERA Introduces MA90 Tangential Milling Cutters

KYOCERA has introduced the MA90 Milling Series, a new range of milling cutters designed with 4-edge tangentially mounted inserts to deliver high body rigidity, efficient chip evacuation, extended tool life, and superior surface finishes.

Available in multiple inch and metric sizes across end mills, face mills, and modular head configurations, the MA90 series offers enhanced performance compared to conventional milling cutters. The tools are engineered for ease of use and robust machining, with a tangential insert design that positions the insert screw on the side. This configuration directs cutting forces into the insert pocket corner, improving stability and reducing stress on the insert screw—an issue commonly associated with conventional designs where the screw is positioned on the front.

The tangential insert layout also enables a higher number of teeth per diameter, improved chip flow, and increased web thickness, all of which contribute to greater cutter rigidity and consistent machining performance across demanding applications.

When paired with the latest PR18 Series inserts, the MA90 demonstrates its capability to effortlessly and reliably tackle various materials, maintaining the level of performance that machinists have grown accustomed to from KYOCERA products. PR18 Series insert grades incorporate proprietary MEGACOAT NANO EX coating technology, setting a new standard for wear resistance and durability. By using a unique double lamination technique with special nano multi-layers for abrasion, wear, and heat resistance, this coating surpasses conventional grades, delivering superior performance and extending the lifespan of the tools.
