Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has dispatched the eighth steam generator for India’s 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) fleet, three months ahead of the contractual delivery schedule.
The steam generator was manufactured at L&T’s Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat. It is a critical component of a nuclear power plant, and its early delivery highlights the company’s manufacturing capabilities and focus on safety, quality and timely execution.
The achievement comes as India steps up efforts to expand its nuclear power capacity to strengthen energy security, support industrial growth and meet long-term decarbonisation goals.
The milestone also highlights the capabilities of India’s domestic nuclear manufacturing ecosystem to support the country’s expanding civil nuclear power programme.
Commenting on this, Mr Anil V Parab, Whole-Time Director & Senior EVP – Manufacturing, L&T, said: “L&T continues to set industry benchmarks. The dispatch of all eight Steam Generators ahead of contractual delivery schedules underscores our unwavering commitment to nuclear safety and manufacturing excellence. It stands as a testament to our engineering capability to fast-track India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision of scaling nuclear power generation to 100 GWe. We remain committed to the long-term partnership with NPCIL in accelerating India’s transition to clean energy”.
