Mahindra Aerostructures Private Limited (MASPL) has secured a multi-year contract from Airbus to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for the A320neo and A321XLR aircraft. Under the agreement, Mahindra will produce 11 fuselage skins at its Bengaluru facility – eight for Section 18 and three for Section 19 – covering parts of the aircraft’s rear fuselage and tail area. The finished components will be shipped to Airbus Aerostructures’ facility in Augsburg, Germany, with first deliveries targeted for 2028.

New Manufacturing Capability Required
Before production begins, Mahindra will install new chemical milling, surface treatment and stretch-forming capabilities at its Bengaluru facility. Stretch forming is used to shape large metal sheets into the curved panels required for aircraft fuselages. Manufacturing engineering work, including tooling design, process-flow updates, qualification and inspection planning, is already underway ahead of the 2028 delivery target.
Part of a Broader Track Record
The A320 fuselage skin contract builds on an existing relationship between Mahindra Aerostructures and Airbus. The company has previously supplied components and subassemblies for the A320neo, A330neo and A350 programmes. In 2025, Airbus selected Mahindra to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H130 light helicopter, later awarding it additional work on H125 fuselages, with deliveries from the Bengaluru facility scheduled to begin in 2027.
Separately, Mahindra Aerostructures has also signed a $300 million multi-year contract with Spain’s Aernnova Aerospace to manufacture metal sub-assemblies and components for a range of Airbus and Embraer aircraft to support Aernnova’s facilities across Spain, the UK, Portugal and Brazil.
Airbus’ India Sourcing Context
The contract is part of what Airbus has described as an effort to increase the amount of manufacturing performed in India, rather than sourcing individual components alone. Airbus currently procures more than $1.6 billion in components and services annually from India and has said it expects that figure to exceed $2 billion before the end of the decade.
