Sandvik Launches Innovation Hub in Pune to Build Next-Gen Manufacturing Software with India’s Engineering Talent

Sandvik has officially inaugurated its new Innovation Hub in Pune, strengthening its focus on digital manufacturing and advanced engineering solutions.

The new hub will focus on developing current and future software offerings aimed at helping manufacturers improve productivity, increase automation, and deliver high-quality components. The company plans to achieve this by using the latest technologies and working with a strong pool of skilled engineers in India.

Building on its existing Intelligent Manufacturing development centre, Sandvik is expanding the site both physically and in terms of engineering capabilities. The hub will support research and development, software, artificial intelligence, and customer support. It is also expected to play an important role in advancing digital thread and AI technologies, enabling faster product development and more customer-focused solutions for both regional and global markets.

The upgraded facility offers a modern and collaborative work environment, designed to encourage teamwork, creativity, and innovation. It brings together expertise across Sandvik’s digital manufacturing businesses, with a strong focus on CAD/CAM software, AI, and end-to-end digital thread solutions.

Sandvik has been present in India for over 60 years and sees the country as a key growth market. The new Innovation Hub is expected to support both regional and global expansion by strengthening R&D, improving collaboration with customers and partners, and driving innovation.

Speaking on the development, Mattias Nilsson, President of Business Area Intelligent Manufacturing at Sandvik, said the new hub marks an important step in strengthening the company’s global innovation network. He highlighted India’s strong talent base and growing role in digital transformation, adding that the investment reflects Sandvik’s long-term commitment to innovation and customer value.

The hub will also work closely with academic institutions and industry partners to support skill development and bridge the gap between education and real-world manufacturing needs. This initiative aligns with Sandvik’s broader goal of building a strong ecosystem for innovation and future talent.
