Tungaloy Corporation has announced the expansion of its AddMeisterDrill series with the introduction of the new DMF drill head. This addition enables flat-bottom hole machining in small diameters ranging from 4 mm to 5.9 mm, all in a single, high-precision operation.

Challenges and Trends

In machining components like sleeves and small valve parts used in automatic and compact lathes, there is often a requirement for flat-bottom holes. Traditionally, this involved using a drill with a pointed tip followed by a separate end mill to flatten the hole bottom adding extra machining steps and requiring multiple tools.

Furthermore, when preparing tap holes for M5–M6 class threads, achieving sufficient hole depth with high accuracy becomes difficult due to the limited wall thickness of the parts. Under these conditions, maintaining both machinability and quality has remained a persistent challenge.
