Walter’s new specialists for the standard program

Walter is augmenting its expertise in the machining of non-ferrous metals with new PCD milling cutters. As most PCD tools are often customized solutions, Walter is also expanding its standard ISO N range with the solid MP271 and MP470 milling cutters. The three-edged MP271 drill slot cutter (Ø 16-25 mm) with a segmented cutting edge length of 30 mm and center cutting edge is ideal for deep depths of cut – such when trimming – and minimizes vibrations thanks to dDifferential pitch. The double-edged spherical cutter MP470 (Ø 4-16 mm) is designed for creating and finishing free-form surfaces.

Both PCD milling cutters have been specially developed for ISO N materials such as aluminum, Al-Si alloys, magnesium alloys, copper alloys and fiber composites, whereby Walter’s own PCD grade WDN20 can multiply the tool life in many cases. The brazed PCD cutting edges of the tools are also suitable for reconditioning, which – together with the significant extension of tTool life – increases the sustainability of the tools, reduces cutting material costs and thus increases cost-effectiveness. Their specific properties make these PCD milling cutters particularly interesting for aluminum machining in general mechanical engineering as well as in the automotive and aviation industries.
