Walter TS increases stability and Tool life during Thread turning

Walter is adding a new, high-performance system to its portfolio with the new TS thread turning inserts and T1011 threading tools. The most striking special feature of the T1011 tool holder is a carbide pin in the rear asset of the Cutting inserts. It prevents wear on the insert seat, while the system’s claw clamping ensures a stable hold for the TS indexable inserts. The Toolholder can be fitted with four different Indexable insert types in two highly Wear-resistant Tiger-tec® Gold coatings. Grade WMP22G enables the highest Cutting speeds; the universal grade WMP32G is designed for 70 per cent of all applications and maximum process reliability. Both grades are suitable for ISO materials of groups P and M and, as a secondary application, for ISO S, N and K. The combination of Tiger-tec® Gold Cutting inserts, stable clamping and Wear-protected Insert surface increases tool life and thread precision.

The Sintered F5 and M5 geometries ensure very good chip breaking properties. The F5 geometry produces very short chips on steel and stainless steel materials; M5 inserts enable a softer cut when lower cutting forces are required. Precision-ground single and multi-tooth inserts complete the system. The latter reduce the number of thread infeeds, and thus the machining time, by up to 40 per cent. A new, customer-friendly pack of two also contributes to cost-effectiveness and sustainability. This minimises storage and procurement costs – especially where different threads have to be produced in small batch sizes. Walter is initially offering the widely applicable TS system for the two most common Insert sizes TS16 and TS22 as well as with various shank variants: in addition to Square shanks from 12×12 to 40×40 mm, also for Walter Capto™ variants in C3 to C6. From April 2025, Walter will be adding new variants for internal threading to the programme.
