Chemvolt Global Private Limited has proposed an investment of ₹2,500 crore in two phases to establish a lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility at the Smart Industrial Township in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The project is expected to generate around 3,500 direct and indirect jobs.
The Gurugram-based clean energy and battery manufacturing company has applied to the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) for the allotment of 23.90 hectares of land for the proposed facility. The state industries department has initiated the land allotment process, while other statutory and regulatory approvals are pending.
According to the proposal, the investment will cover plant construction, machinery installation, production infrastructure and associated facilities. The proposed facility will manufacture lithium-ion cells for electric vehicle batteries, energy storage systems and electronic equipment.
The project could strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position in battery manufacturing as demand grows for electric mobility and renewable energy storage. It could also create opportunities for local component suppliers, logistics providers and ancillary industries.
Expanding domestic lithium-ion cell production could help strengthen India’s battery supply chain and reduce dependence on imported cells. However, the project remains at the proposal stage, with land allotment and the necessary approvals yet to be completed.
Separately, Chemvolt Global has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with China’s HyperStrong in Dubai to collaborate on large-scale battery energy storage projects across the Middle East. The partnership aims to support the development of energy storage solutions as demand for reliable and sustainable energy grows.
Chemvolt Global CEO Kuldeep Gupta said the company aims to accelerate the global energy transition through innovation, sustainability and advanced battery technologies.
