The Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme has cleared another tranche. The government has approved 31 new proposals under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving investments of ₹7,877 crore, as India strengthens its domestic electronics supply chain and reduces dependence on imported components.

With the latest approvals, the total number of projects cleared under the scheme has reached 106 across five tranches, with cumulative investments crossing ₹69,000 crore.

What The Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme Now Covers

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said private investment under the scheme has already exceeded the government’s initial target of ₹59,000 crore. He said the scheme has now attracted ₹69,000 crore in investment, with private investment coming into critical electronics manufacturing sectors.

The latest approvals cover segments including capital goods, camera and display modules, connectors, anode materials, enclosures, rare earth permanent magnets, speakers and microphones, antennas, metallised films for capacitors and coils.

Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan said the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had cleared nearly 31 applications in the latest round, with projects spread across 10 states.

Among the companies receiving approvals are Jyoti CNC Automation with an investment of ₹1,021 crore, Micromax Precision Moulding at ₹565 crore, VVDN Technologies at ₹100 crore, Resolute Group’s SkyQuad Electronics and Appliances at ₹740 crore, Mitsubishi Electric India at ₹99 crore, Wipro Global Engineering and Electronic Materials with an additional investment of ₹1,033 crore, Gruner India at ₹79 crore and Centum Electronics at ₹54 crore.

Why It Matters For The Supply Chain

Other approved applicants include GX Group, Bhagwati Products, Ennovi Mobility Solutions, Allied Engineering Works, Globe Capacitors, Syrma SGS Technology, Rosenberger Interconnect, Sensata Technologies and Britannia RFID Technologies, among others.

The approved projects are expected to generate total production worth ₹82,243 crore and create nearly 10,000 jobs, according to the government.

Launched in April 2025, the ECMS provides incentives to companies establishing domestic electronics component manufacturing facilities. The scheme is aimed at increasing domestic value addition, strengthening local supply chains and positioning India as a global electronics manufacturing hub.

Vaishnaw highlighted four key areas for the electronics industry: design capabilities, indigenous supply chains, Six Sigma quality and workforce development.

He said strengthening domestic design capabilities would help companies respond to changes in technology, markets and customer requirements while developing products at scale.

The minister also urged companies to deepen their domestic supply chains by mapping components down to sub-components and identifying opportunities to source inputs within India. He said stronger local supply chains would create jobs and improve supply resilience.

Vaishnaw also stressed the importance of Six Sigma quality and lean manufacturing for Indian companies seeking to compete globally. He noted that an ELCINA presentation showed nearly 60 per cent of companies were moving towards Six Sigma quality standards.

Workforce development was identified as another priority, with Vaishnaw urging companies to continue investing in skills to improve quality, productivity and manufacturing efficiency.

He said industry bodies including ELCINA, MAIT and ICEA had been asked to work on talent development in a structured manner, with support from the ministries of skill development, electronics and IT, and education.
