Danish biosolutions company Novonesis has announced a €600 million (approximately ₹6,660 crore) investment to expand its existing facility at Patalganga, Maharashtra, and build what the company describes as one of the world’s most advanced enzyme production facilities. The facility is expected to be fully operational by 2030 and will manufacture enzymes for industries including biofuels, household care, and food and beverages.

Just as importantly, it brings us closer to customers in key growth markets, enabling us to meet their expectations and deliver on our long-term growth targets.” Lund added, “Patalganga brings together what we have learned across our production footprint and takes us another step toward zero-emission production.”
Krishna Mohan Puvvada, Regional President for the Middle East, India & Africa, said the investment would help Novonesis grow in the long run and boost India’s role in the global bioeconomy, mentioning the Indian government’s BioE3 policy as an important step to realise the economic, social, and environmental benefits in the global bioeconomy, citing the Indian government’s BioE3 policy as a relevant step toward unlocking the economic, social and environmental potential of biosolutions.
About the Expansion
The expanded facility will be integrated into Novonesis’ global production network and is intended to bring the company closer to customers across the Middle East, Africa, India and wider South Asia markets, the company says, which are expected to grow faster than developed markets in the coming years. The Patalganga investment follows a series of recent expansions across Novonesis’ global manufacturing footprint, including facilities in Rayong, Thailand; Franklinton, North Carolina; Taicang, China; Araucaria, Brazil; and West Allis, Wisconsin.
