Reliance Industries executive director Anant M Ambani has announced plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh to develop compressed biogas (CBG) plants, linking the company’s clean-energy plans with the state’s agricultural economy.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub and the Indian School of Agriculture in Madanapalle on October 2, Ambani said the proposed investment could create more than 3 lakh jobs and generate nearly ₹60,000 crore in revenue for Andhra Pradesh over the coming decades.
The planned CBG projects are expected to connect agricultural activity with energy production by using biomass and agricultural resources as part of the clean-energy value chain.
Ambani said the initiative would seek to create a closer link between farmers and India’s energy transition, with Reliance aiming to support farmers in becoming participants in the country’s growing energy economy.
The proposed investment will make CBG a major component of Reliance Industries’ planned activities in Andhra Pradesh. The projects are also expected to support employment and economic activity across the agricultural, energy and associated supply chains.
The announcement comes as Andhra Pradesh seeks to expand investments in clean energy and strengthen links between agriculture and emerging energy technologies.
