Tata Electronics and Japan-based precision semiconductor component manufacturer Enomoto Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance India’s semiconductor packaging ecosystem and support Tata Electronics’ packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam.
Under the collaboration, Enomoto will use its R&D capabilities, technical expertise and next-generation solutions to support semiconductor packaging readiness at the Jagiroad facility. The companies will also explore the localisation of lead frame manufacturing in India. Lead frames are a critical component used in semiconductor packaging, and local production could support the development of the domestic semiconductor supply chain.
The partnership will further assess opportunities for technology transfer, engineering collaboration and capability development. The companies aim to support the development of an integrated and resilient semiconductor value chain in India through the collaboration.
Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, said, “Building a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem requires deep localisation across the value chain, from materials and components to manufacturing and packaging. We are pleased to partner with Enomoto, and this collaboration is an important step in developing a robust supplier ecosystem for our packaging facility in Assam. By combining Enomoto’s expertise in precision manufacturing with Tata Electronics’ commitment to building world-class semiconductor capabilities, we are laying the foundation for a trusted, globally integrated semiconductor ecosystem in India.”
Mr. Homare Shiratori, CEO, Enomoto Co. Ltd., said, “Enomoto has built a strong legacy of delivering high-quality and cost-effective solutions tailored to customers’ needs. Through our strategic partnership with Tata Electronics, we will combine our precision component manufacturing expertise with Tata Electronics’ advanced OSAT capabilities to support its expanding semiconductor ambitions in India and in global markets.”
Tata Electronics is building India’s first indigenous high-volume packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam, with an investment of US$ 3 billion. By developing partnerships with global leaders in semiconductor technology, equipment and materials, Tata Electronics continues to augment its capabilities and support the creation of a thriving domestic supplier ecosystem, to serve global customers.
With an established manufacturing network across Asia and a growing international customer base, Enomoto is seeking to expand its presence in India through its partnership with Tata Electronics. This move will position the company to participate in one of the world’s fastest-growing semiconductor markets and support its long-term growth.
