Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has invited American manufacturers to expand their presence in India, partner with Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and co-invest in advanced manufacturing.

Goyal made the call while addressing a business roundtable convened by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which brought together representatives of small and large manufacturing companies from across the US.

The discussions highlighted India’s expanding industrial base and skilled workforce as opportunities for deeper collaboration between Indian and US manufacturers. The engagement covered areas including investment, manufacturing, technology, innovation and high-value capabilities.

Goyal also encouraged US manufacturers to explore partnerships with Indian businesses and identify opportunities to strengthen manufacturing linkages between the two countries. Greater collaboration in advanced manufacturing and SME partnerships could support more resilient supply chains across both economies.

The engagement comes as India and the US continue discussions on the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement. Goyal is also in the US to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting and hold discussions with US trade officials on the proposed agreement.
