Tata Projects Secures Contract for Global Automaker’s New Plant in Maharashtra

Tata Projects has secured a major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract from a global automotive manufacturer for the development of its greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The company, however, has not disclosed the name of the automotive manufacturer or the value of the contract.

The project covers three key packages: the assembly shop, press and weld shop, and utility and support buildings. The scope includes civil, structural and architectural works, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems, utility networks, testing, commissioning and final handover.

According to Tata Projects, the integrated project will require coordination across multiple engineering disciplines and construction activities to ensure the seamless integration of production facilities and supporting infrastructure.

The contract marks an important step in Tata Projects’ expansion in the automotive sector and strengthens its presence in advanced manufacturing infrastructure. The company will work with specialist partners and suppliers to execute the project.

Commenting on the development, Rajiv Menon, President and Chief Growth & Strategy Officer, Tata Projects, said the partnership with a leading global automotive manufacturer would contribute to the development of its new facility. He added that the mandate would broaden the company’s presence in advanced manufacturing, supported by its integrated engineering and execution capabilities.

The project builds on Tata Projects’ experience in developing technology-intensive infrastructure, including semiconductor facilities, battery plants and data centres.
