Japanese semiconductor equipment maker Hirata Corporation has entered the Indian market through a partnership with manufacturing solutions provider ATS India, which will serve as its exclusive distribution partner in the country.
The partnership is aimed at improving access to semiconductor manufacturing equipment and automation technologies for Indian manufacturers. It will initially focus on Hirata’s standard products for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging.
The portfolio will include Equipment Front End Modules (EFEM), FOPLP Load Ports, PLP Panel Handling Robots and high-performance wafer handling robots. These systems are designed for wafer and panel handling across semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging processes.
The companies said the partnership will target semiconductor manufacturing, backend and OSAT processes, advanced packaging and handling automation. Hirata and ATS India also plan to address local access, technical support and lead-time challenges.
Hirata and ATS India have worked together for more than a decade in sectors including automotive. Under the new partnership, the companies plan to initially offer standard products and expand towards customised solutions as the Indian semiconductor market develops.
The companies said the collaboration will also focus on building local commercial, technical and service capabilities, while supporting India’s semiconductor supply chain and precision manufacturing skills.
